Did what I expected. Jul 15, 2010
By nanmka It repelled bugs in a swampy area at about 5'. That meant we didn't wonder too far from the candles. They burned just as bright as the regular candles. I had no problem lighting these candles and they burned far longer than I needed.

Not Only Light but These Keep the Bugs Away Too! Dec 05, 2009
By Gary Diana
"Warty"
These burn nice and bright in the candle lanterns and last just as long too. They have the added ability to keep those nasty skeeters away too though and that is a BIG plus in my book. Nothing is more distracting while you are trying to read or get things done that the sound of a mosquito in your ear. I know you know what I am talking about too. ZZZZZZZZeeeeeeeeerrrrrrzzzzzzzeeeeee
These burn nice and long and make no horrible smell yet they keep the mosquitoes away from camp and my ears. They are not any more expensive than the regular candles so I can't see any reason not to use these all summer long.

Great candles Oct 29, 2010
By KB These candles were great- very citronellaesque. Candles were double wrapped, due to the fragrance I suppose. Its weird but I had the same wick problem as other reviewers where I had to use a tooth pick to pull the wick up and back to the middle of the candle, but the problem did not persist and, thus, was not a biggie. These were actually less expensive that the regular UCOs and cost less on amazon than I could find them locally. I freeze these UCO candles before use and get 15- 20 hours.

Not happy with Citronella Candles Jun 01, 2009
By Wallyj16 I had a lot of trouble with these burning evenly and the wick would burn out. I've had absolutely no trouble with the white candles at all and I will go back to them. It's made me a little skeptical of the Beeswax candles and I'll stick with the ones I know I can depend on. I will never buy the Citronella candles again. Other than this, I love my UCO lanterns and Candliers. They don't blast you with excessive light and offer what I love most about the woods, relaxation.

Works as expected, great product. Aug 04, 2011
By W. L. Holder I purchased these for use in my UCO Original Candle Lantern. They work exactly as the other types do. The wax does not drip or build up, and the candle burns similar to the other types. Last right about 9 hours as described.
The insect repellent capability is similar to the light capability, meaning that a single candle in the lantern does not light up a large area and the area effected by the Citronella is a similarly sized area. One UCO Original Candle Lantern with these candles in them will keep mosquitos and such away from 2 people sitting at a table, or out of a small tent. If you need a larger area covered, I would suggest using one of the larger Citronlla pot-type candles or similar product.
My son and I backpack/minimalist camp together quite a bit, we each have our own UCO Original Candle Lantern allowing for us to have our own light source, and now our own insect repellent source. This is perfect for that type of sitation, or a small patio table (assuming minimal wind).
For the price, you cant go wrong. These work well, are inexpensive, and function flawlessly with the UCO line of lanterns. I have not used them outside of the UCO lanters, so their use or effectivness may vary with that.
