Can I give this hat more than 5 stars? Aug 21, 2010
By bmkd I think, I finally found the perfect hat. This hat is awesome!!! I love it. I ordered it in the sand/black color, and it basically goes with everything. The hat is very lightweight. The mesh inserts keep you cool on hot days. The material is very smooth but sturdy. The best thing about this hat is the brim. It is very stiff and sturdy. Not floppy at all. I hate floppy hats. The brim is 4 in. in the front and back, but tapered to 3 1/2 in. on the sides. The elongated shape of the hat makes it very wearable and doesn't look doofy at all. At the same time, you get full protection from the sun. I also like that it comes in two different sizes. I like my hat to fit a little bit loose, so it doesn't mess up my hair. Inside, you'll find an adjustable band to make the hat as tight or loose as you like. The chin strap makes sure you don't lose this awesome hat. If I could make one suggestion to the company, I would have liked it if the chin strap could be detached. However, it can easily be tucked away inside the crown of the hat, so it's not really a big deal. I love, love, love this hat.

dorky flat brim Sep 28, 2011
By osuluke i have another hat just like this and love it, but this one sucks because the brim has plastic wiring looped in two spots on the brim. this makes the hat stick straight out and it wont veer down like my old one does. it looks super dorky. i probably wont ever wear it. this sucks because it costs 40 dollars. the picture makes it look like the hat's brim veers down, but it does not. it is flat.

Excellent hat and great hat Nov 20, 2011
By D. Hurt I really like this had and the features that it has. I have used it on about 5 backpacking trips this weekend. It has functioned well in all sorts of weather and conditions. However, there are two features that I do not care for all that much. With a fully loaded pack, the brim of the hat will hit my back causing a rasping noise and forcing my head forward until the brim bends. They have a version with half brim and floppy back, I think I will get that next time. It is also a difficult hat to collapse and store while on a hike since the brim is quite stiff. Overall, I am very happy with it and outside of those two issues which are specific to backpacking, this is a great hat.

The hat was shipped folded up in a small box so when I first saw it, it was so distorted I couldn't tell if I liked it or not. Set it upright on a flat surface and placed weights all around on the brim for a couple of days and that brought it back into proper shape. There is not only a thin layer of foam sandwiched between the brim fabric, but also wires. Both work together to keep the brim looking good and staying put even in a brisk breeze. I will wear this hat for walking and for other day excursions - lunch with friends, errand running, etc. It looks good enough to go anywhere jeans, chinos, and shorts can go. I wear a small hat size, 6-7/8, and was sure this hat being medium was going to fit a tad loose. But since I planned to wear a bandanna under the hat in summer and a warm beanie under it for cold days, I felt it would work out fine. Especiqlly since it has an adjusting strap inside the headband. As it turns out the fit is perfect even without cinching the adjusting strap. Still it fits over a bandanna because the headband is elastic. As for a warm beanie I will need to buy a thin skull cap like cyclists use under their helmets. Fabric content and care: 100% nylon. Hand wash in cold water with mild soap. Line dry. Do not tumble dry or iron. Made in Vietnam.
