Best Silk Sleep Sack Nov 25, 2008
By Jerry P. Danzig After trying at least three brands of these silk sleeping bag liners (or sleep sacks, as they are sometimes called), I have concluded that the Sea to Summit sacks give you the most bang for the buck.
Their ripstop reinforcement seems to be the key reason these STS bags last two years of everynight use or longer, compared to a year or less for other silk sleep sacks.
Yes, I rely on these for nightly use with a futon. I climb into one of these luxurious-feeling silk cocoons, throw on a blanket or comforter, and I'm set for a comfortable night's sleep. No further bedmaking required!
The reason I have deducted one star is I wish these had an opening up the side to allow for easier entrance and egress.
Otherwise I am happy to see new colors available in designer shades more fashionable than you might expect in a sleep sack.

Amazing piece of gear Sep 21, 2010
By Rhandhali I have a "mummy" shape liner that I used as a sleeping bag liner while on an expedition to Mongolia. The silk is incredibly tough and the stiches are great. In addition to a sleeping sack it did double duty as a laundry bag or all around swag. As an example of the abuse I put this thing through I filled it with wet laundry, slung it over my shoulder and carried it a mile from the river back to the campsite - the seams are still as tight as they were when I bought it. I abused this liner and it's still as soft, strong and comfortable as it ever was.
It can be washed in the sink or in a river and be dry in a couple of hours. It packs down to less than the size of a 12 oz coke can. This is a great piece of gear for camping, where it keeps your sleeping bag clean and makes it just a bit warmer, or for traveling when you don't have sheets or just want something to cover you while sleeping through a long layover in the airport.
The only thing I would change is getting one of the rectangular bags instead of the mummy shape. The rectangular liner seems to be just a bit more versatile, and would fit inside my mummy sleeping bag just as well while giving me some more freedom of movement when I'm using the liner by itself.

Camped in the Wadi Rum for Xmas. Freezing on the sand at night. Amazing how incredibly well this liner works. Also great for every night on the road in many challenging situations i.e. 2 Star hotels! Trudi

durable and soft Sep 18, 2010
By Majka Bought this liner for the light weight / durability combo and you really can't find much cheaper ripstop silk liner out there. I got the long, so that it can go over my head when I'm in my mummy bag but can also serve as a pillow cover while hosteling. I am not sure how much warmth it actually adds (minus a star), but it does feel really nice inside and since my bag is down, it will add years to the life of my bag by keeping it clean. On a hot night, it is the perfect weight sheet when sleeping outside. It's held up well so far through about a year of moderate use.

I love this thing! Nov 21, 2011

I used this liner quite a bit backpacking over the last year, and I have to say that I love it. It's so light and so small that you can just toss it in your pack as an afterthought. They say it add's 10 degrees to your bags temperature rating and I believe it. I didn't get cold once while using the liner. Trust me, it's been a great investment, especially if you don't want to fork over the dough for a entirely new sleeping bag if your getting cold at night.
