Hiking the AT? This is the shoe for you. Apr 14, 2009
By Joel McGarvey Lightweight. Durable. Dries faster than anything else out there. Great toecap to prevent bumps and wear and tear. Lacing system is fast (not to mention kevlar) Walked over 800 miles with 35 lbs on my back before I had to turn em' in. I'm also 6'4" and 230 lbs. You do the math. Great shoes. Ignore the Goretex ones. Goretex is useless in wet environments where you have no cover.

Great shoe for hiking or short-med distance runs May 26, 2009
By Chris G I bought these as somewhat of a hybrid (light) hiking shoe and trail runner. I've gone on some pretty intense, muddy, slippery hikes in these and they stood the test. The sole is pretty hard and has great traction. I was a bit worried about ankle support but the heel is cupped in a way that keeps your ankle from rolling (within reason). So it stood the text as a hiking shoe. I have also done some short runs in them. They're very light for a trail runner which is great. But they're not exactly a substitute for true running shoes. I probably wouldn't recommend them for anything over 3-4 miles on flat ground. All in all, they do what I wanted them to do and I'd buy them again for sure.

Perfect Nov 17, 2010
By Juan Laredo I use to be a boot only guy but since I bought these shoes I havent put on my hiking boots. The insoles are great and comfortable yet supportive. You dont feel the rocks or rough terrain. The thread is aggresive enough for mud and provide great grip in slippery conditions. The laces are great and easy to adjust. I have used these in all different types of terrain like sand, soft dirt, mud, grass, heavy weeds, rocks, gravel, and light snow. My friend did the John Muir trail 220 miles in a week with these shoes. Highly Recommend to everyone!
Shoe Fell Apart Mar 09, 2011
By Harroguk Very disappointed in these.
I have bought Salomon shoes for years now and they normally last me about 12 months before I should get a new pair, 18 months before I NEED a new pair.
With these the sole began to come away from the shoe after 6 months, by 7 months the sole was half off.
I tried to contact Salomon but received no reply. I would not recommend these however I will be giving Salomon another chance to redeem themselves as in the past I have found the company one of the best in the trekking shoe market.
