5Only buy this product if color is a concern!  Mar 22, 2010 By Tom Sagona
A few of quick notes to anyone considering this product:

The waterproofing works very well, but note that it's a surface spray. Unfortunately any oil or grease or other heavy duty waterproofing that is rubbed into the leather will inevitably darken it, so if you want to waterproof light colored suede without darkening it, spray-on is the best you can do. Because the waterproofing is just a film on the surface, any heavy scuffs will rub it off. So you have to be careful not to let the boot side scrape hard against a rough surface. Of course, if the color of the boot is a major concern for you, you're probably very careful not to scuff them anyway.

That said, after two coats I was able to stand in about 4 inches of water for several seconds without any leakage, and when I lifted my foot the water rolled off like it had never been there.

I used this kit on my Timberland Pros because I didn't want them to turn dark chestnut brown like my old pair did when I put standard waterproofing on them. The color was hardly affected at all. It did turn ever so slightly darker with a vague reddish tint, but unless you are extremely picky the color change is negligible. They still look like Tims!

In conclusion: anyone who doesn't care about darkening their boots should look into a waterproofing that penetrates deeper and won't scuff off. This waterproofing is only for people who are concerned about darkening the color of suede leather. However, I believe this is the best thing on the marked that will waterproof suede without darkening.

4Outstanding product - Saved my relationship  Sep 08, 2010 By L. E. McNeill
My significant other bought me a really nice pair of tan suede shoes while we were vacationing in Argentina. They are great shoes, but get dirty really easy and after the first time I wore them they needed to be cleaned. Without thinking a grabed my regular shoe brush and thought I could brush the dirt off. Now I realize how stupid that was because the brush rubbed old shoe polish into the suede. I thought I was going to have to admit I ruined the shoes after the first time I wore them. I found this product and used it acording to the directions and it worked perfectly. The shoes came out as good as new. The instructions appear to be more for work boots, but it also worked great on dress shoes.

5Save my snow suede boots  Feb 18, 2010 By wogan "the book reader"
After purchasing suede boots for the winter and really getting my money's worth of use (so far a total of 80" of snow this year); I realized my poor ole boots needed help. This kit has come to our rescue. It contains an eraser that does a pretty good job on getting rid of spots, even salt stains, especially using the boot cleaner as long as you let the boot dry out first. The repellent & conditioner treats 2 pairs of boots, that were about 12" high. The directions for use were very adequate too. The suede brush that is included is much softer than suede brushes I've used before, but seems to do the job. At least it is bigger, probably about 3" x 1" wide which makes it easier to use. We used this kit on a pair of suede boots and a leather pair - seemed to work well for both so it's a pretty good deal, especially since it also comes in a very nice sturdy plastic pouch with a handle and a locking drawstring fastener - just a nifty kit with a pretty good price for what it contains.

1leaves brown edged stains on light colored boots  Jan 01, 2011 By anonymous
I purchased this to use on a pair of light gray bearpaw boots. They had only been worn once or twice and they had a couple tiny water spot-like stains that I thought I might as well clean before waterproofing.

I folowed the directions on the bottle, but once the boots dried, there were a brown outlines around the areas I cleaned. After using the included eraser and brushing like crazy with the included brush, the outlines are less obvious than they were before, but they are definitely still there.

I wish I had just left the spots alone. The boots looked better before I "cleaned" them.

5Great for cleaning nubuck!  Jun 22, 2011 By Serenity "Linda"
I purchased a pair of "waterproof leather shoes" which were waterproof nubuck. When they first became dirty I had no idea how to clean them, but I did some research on cleaning suede and nubuck and searched Amazon. I came upon this McNett Kit which sounded like the items I needed. My shoes are back to looking like new and they are re-waterproofed. Great product.
