1st Zip Line Nov 30, 2009
By Cosey In my kids view, the zip line and pulley are great. In a parent view, this pulley is terrific:
- It is removable, so I can reduce the liability to only when supervised
- It's portable nature also allows us to keep it out of the weather elements
- It held my weigth and the weight of my wife...so adult fun too
- The kids 6 and 8 are both able to ride and do not turn uncontrolable circles
- The enclosed barring assemblly must make it more durable, but it is fast even for only a 3 ft drop in elevation between trees 70ft apart.
I read other pulley reviews, and then read reviews for this one. I bought this one and it mets the needs we had for saftey and value. I can not speak for other pulleys, but this one rocks for our Zip Line.
Only one thing surprising: I thought it would be much larger, but it was only slightly larger than the size of my hand. I guess pulley size does not matter (in contrast to my orginal thoughts), cause it certainly does the job.

A Fantastic Pulley for SPEED Jun 02, 2008
By Mountmonty The Petzl Speed is simply amazing. Sure, it costs a handful more than the regular Tandem and the Cable, but it is worth every penny. The pulley is really easy to use and has a GREAT feel to it. VERY smooth running action and great handling. Feels like a "trolley" and doesn't let you twist at all; makes zipping around very comfortable. Works great on my 5/8 Bluewater Static Line. Never again will I use a single pulley for a zipline, tyrolean traverse, or anything besides hauling systems. Definitely a worthy purchase. Get it with super saver shipping, pay no tax, and have at your door within a week! A fantastic product for all climbing hardware nerds out there!

Lives up to it's name Apr 27, 2010
By R. Hill I bought this for my backyard zip line. This thing is wicked fast and lives up to it's name "Speed" pulley. I had to decrease the drop angle a couple times to slow it down a bit. My kids use the zip line a lot and the pulley has shown no sign of wear running on a 1/4" bare steel cable.

Short life span Apr 03, 2011
By SC I have three of these pulleys, two of which have failed within two years of moderate use. The ball bearings give out too quickly, leaving a wheel that just bobbles around inside the case (not a catstrophic failure, but I still need to throw them away). They are loud, slow and break down quickly. Trying the Robertson pulleys next to see if they will last a bit longer and give a smoother, quieter ride.

Petzl Tandem Speed Pulley May 21, 2010
By C Ecklund Well made as you would expect from Petzl. This pulley lives up to its name on a rope zip line.
