Worth their weight in gold Jul 08, 2010

I could eat these for regular meals, not just hiking... they are that good! It was/is shocking to me every time I have the corn, green beans, or meals like lasagna that they've made such a great product. It's great to hike and look forward to eating a nice, hot, delicious meal from these packets.
Now that I have these, I don't bring anything else on hikes. They are lightweight, great-tasting, and morale-boosting after a long day of hiking.
I carry these with a JetBoil water heater, and easily within a few minutes of setting up camp I have a delicious, tasty meal. Really changes your outlook on rainy and/or cold, miserable days.

Bulk in a bag! Sep 26, 2010
By Trubrit Purchased this for a 7 day hike. First time I had gone with prepped dried food.
Easy preparation, no dish cleaning and very tasty and substantial.
Big down side is the weight and the extensive packaging that makes for very bulky space taking in your back pack.
My best achievement was getting the whole into a space of 12x12x12 a cubic foot !
I think I would like to see this product with far less packaging or maybe a back packer friendly packaging that allows it to be packed tiny and emptied into a receptacle for re Hydrating.
If I get this food resource again I will re package it into Ziploc bags and save a much needed weight and space element.
Great product Mountain House, now how about addressing the Back packer friendly packaging.

Excellent food for backpacking Feb 10, 2010

I have been taking Mountain House food backpacking and camping for about a year. It is extremely convenient, easy to make, and tastes great. All you need is water and a means of heating it (in an emergency cold water can be used).
I also keep some in my disaster survival kit. In terms of Calories a couple packages of Mountain House meals have the same as what the "emergency rations" companies call 3 days worth of meals.
Good package for a good price. Jan 02, 2011
By snowmanhanson We do a lot of backcountry camping and it's always nice to have some of these around to pick out for a trip. There was a good variety to this pack, it arrived timely, had a decent price tag, and we will definitely be ordering again.

Be Prepared!!!!! Jan 11, 2011
By D. Cederquist I recieved three mountain House seven day Freeze dried food boxs. These emergency or camping kits are great to have on hand.
I bought these kits for my family in case of any emergency- even food shortages. They have a seven year shelf life.
I have not tried eating any of them but have read reviews on other websites. Campers say the food is good, and when you have nothing to eat Mountain House is the ticket. I am sure though if I was camping or hiking this would be a good product to have. LG Outdoors is where I purchased my kits fast prompt service!!! I have read mountain House or Alpine House have great freeze dried products!!!! So get prepared and be ready. You never know when the s--t will hit the fan.
