Really helps with recovery after running Jun 03, 2009
By Stephen M. Charme I have been using this product for over a year, and take it after my 10+ mile outdoor runs, or after my indoor gym workouts that end with a 5-6 mile run on the treadmill. I don't have the muscle aches that I used to get before I started taking this.
I prefer the strawberry flavor to the original. I usually drink it with a couple of low fat string cheeses to give me the protein boost that my body craves after running or other vigorous exercise.
I use this product in conjunction with Hammer Gel (which I take before and during my running, and which I have reviewed on Amazon), and never feel "wiped out" after my runs.
I highly recommend this product.

Great product, great taste, easy to use Jul 29, 2009
By Kevin Like most Hammer products, this stuff works and tastes great. It is not nearly as sweet as many recovery products and has a very easy to drink, subtle flavor. The portability makes it easy to take along to a race or training run and mix with water when you finish. It also mixes very easily. I take it on all my long runs (over 10 miles or so) and really hard speedwork sessions. I may be conservative, but sometimes only use 1/2 the bag if I know I'll be eating a balanced meal right afterward. For a marathon, I take the whole bag AND eat a balanced meal. It really helps me get up the next day and/or continue training.

Effective Recovery Carb/Protein Drink May 22, 2009
By pafmarwak I'm not a long term user of this product. My experience in drinking it after two marathons and two very long training walks has been with the result that my muscles seem to not be as cramped, sore and tight the next day. I'm thinking that it has to do with how the ingredients in the Recoverite lessen the effects of lactic acid buildup in the muscles. Or perhaps it's just mind over matter; although we are what we eat and drink:*) Whatever is happening it seems to be a good thing.

The Finishing Touch to Any Long or Hard Training Session or Race Apr 21, 2010
By Will Murphy I am a big fan of Hammer Nutrition. Recoverite is one of my favorites among their excellent products. Getting faster and stronger has two main elements. One is to train in a way that provides a stimulus to your body to get stronger and more fit. The other is to provide your body with the rest and materials it needs to recover and make those changes. If you don't recover right, your workout is NOT helping you.
There is a great opportunity to replenish the body's stores of glycogen soon after exercise. Recoverite is made to capitalize on that opportunity. It gives you the right mix of carbohydrates and amino acids (protein) to let your body store the energy it needs for the next workout, and repair the micro-damage from the one you just finished. (It also has electrolytes.)
I can tell you that I find I recover from hard training sessions faster and with less soreness and fatigue when I use Recoverite promptly after finishing. If I am training away from home, I have some in a sports bottle in the car and when I finish I add water, shake it up and I am on my way to recovering right.
Really like this Jan 05, 2012
By MeganNYC Not only does this actually taste decent, but I feel like it helps in my recovery after runs. It reduces muscle fatigue the day after runs, which has allowed me to increase my mileage. I haven't tried any other flavors, but I think I'll stick with the chocolate. Make sure you put ice in it, too. When its colder, it tastes better.
