5Awesome Light  Sep 19, 2008 By M. Maglio "cyclocross girl"
I bought this light after researching many other lights. I first saw it at Performance bikes and its light weight is what first caught my attention. Added to that, it gives off so much light my boyfriend thought I was a car pulling into the driveway when I got home from work on my bike. The battery is small and fits on the limited space my stem offers and it charges in only three and a half hours. I ride a cyclocross bike as a commuter and this light works excellent for what I need. My boyfriend is thinking of competing in a 24 hour race and this light would be perfect for that. It has four settings, the brightest is very bright and the weakest is still bright. You can clearly see potholes and junk in the road ahead of you at a good distance. Fast riding is safer with this light at night. Plus, if you want to be obnoxious, this little light has flash and strobe settings. Cars will definitely see you coming. Maybe even mistake you for a motorcycle. Overall, this light is worth the money and I'd buy it over any of NiteRiders lights, of which I also looked at the bike shop.

5Overall Excellent for brightness, light weight, cost  Dec 25, 2008 By Energizer "Just Keep Going"
I use the Cygolite TridenX Triple LED Li Ion light on my helmet with the Niterider Trinewt on my handlebar. The Cygolite TridenX light housing is one of the lightest and puts out a relatively more focused beam which helps to illuminate down long straight fast downhills. The light weight of the light makes it easier on those 2+ hour night rides. Ideal for helmet application. The NiteRider Trinewt which I use on my handlebar is heavier but puts out a slightly broader light beam which illuminates the trail immediately in front of the wheel and around narrow radius turns in the mountains or switchbacks. This combination gives me the benefit of both a dispersed beam for close up peripheral vision (NiteRider Trinewt) and distant illumination (Cygolite Triden X). Most serious mountain bike riders doing intermediate or harder level trails at night will tell you that both a helmet light AND handlebar light with at least 2.5 hrs runtime EACH is a must. I ride with a guy who has a Dinotte 600/200 helmet & handlebar setup but its light output is narrower and more focused than the NiteRider/Cygolite combo. Though the Dinotte setup works well and I'd be happy with that setup too. Niterider and Cygolite can be found online for much, much less than MSRP. I've found Dinotte prices are more fixed. Hope this review helps.

5Innovative, compact, reliable  Jun 14, 2010 By Nils Valentin
I am commuting on(ir)regular basis between home and office on my road bicycle in Tokyo.
(30+ km one way)
As it can get late at times at work I wanted a light that shows me the way
(rather than just indicating to others where I am).

The Cygolite Tridenx -team has uploaded a very compelling 3min video on Youtube.
After you have seen this killer video the choice is clear.

So I went for the Cygolite Tridenx and I am not disappointed.
This light is so much more than I bargained for.
No more guessing if "somebody/something" is in your way.

A close friend said s(he) saw me coming from 300m away.
The first comment from the same person was "Thanks to you, I am blind now" ;-).

The combination of wide and narrow lenses distributes the light nicely for near and far and leaves the beam wide enough to see the full road not just a spot.
That was also reason why I dint opt f.e for Ay-Ups V Twin Sports, because two spots is not the same as the combination of wide and narrow lenses.
But that's something you will only really know "after" you already bought it.

Anyway so far I am happy with the product.
The light and battery weight 250gr., they are always mounted on my helmet and I don't really think about it anymore.
That means they are light enough for me.

I also do appreciate the thoughtful packaging. The box is just big enough to hold everything and not artificially over-sized.
(reduces shipping cost)
The included accessory is also very welcome (bag, adhesive foam etc.)
The mounting strap itself could be better but is doing its job.

Summary:

Overall this lighting system is doing a terrific job.
It definitely takes the guessing work out of your nightly cycle trips.
Also keep in mind cars and trucks can not pretend anymore they didn't see you coming.

Because the light is so bright, all I really need is the lowest settings.
This gives me 12 hours runtime max. - and means I don't have to charge daily.

Suggestion: For future version a remote option for the handle bar would be terrific.
This would allow the Off-Road riders to increase/decrease light easily.

!! Overall I found this a superb product !!

Update: I just came back from a four day tour (570 km). Part of it I was riding on a cycle road along a forest (at night). There is no way that I could have done without the light !! I am not easily scared but riding at night near a silent dark forest definitely has its own challenges. Its unbelievable what wide and bright beam the cygolite has. It's definitely good to have this friend with you at all times.

4CygoLite TridenX 600 LED Li-Ion: Score One for Customer Support  Sep 22, 2009 By John S. Harbaugh
Like others who have bought the CygoLite TridenX 600 LED Li-Ion, I found it to be bright, light, and right for commuting on dark streets. After about two weeks, it got stuck on dim, no matter what mode was selected. Talked to Burt at Cygolite, checked the battery, etc., then sent it back. They replaced the circuit board and shipped it back the following day. Light has worked fine ever since (about two weeks).

Were it not for the failure, I would give it 5 stars. Customer support was courteous and quick. Would recommend it to anyone needing a serious headlight.

5Don't waste your time with other lights...  Apr 23, 2009 By R. Dzek
I purchased this light back in October of 08 and used it through the winter for my commute to work. This light is amazing. The run time is about 3 hours on a single charge which is way more than I need for my commute.

It is very bright. A driver would have to blind to not see this thing coming. Also in the dusk and pre-dawn hours, where you are most at risk, the blink features really make you stand out. I felt very safe with this light.

It is very light weight, and it installed onto my bars in a couple minutes. The mounting bracket is offset so when you attach it to the bar next to the stem, the light actually sits over the middle of the stem. Some people in other reviews did not care for this feature. I have had no complaints or problems with the configuration. The clamp is secure and has not wandered or come loose the entire winter commute season.

The battery status indicator is easy to ready at a glance. Just look at how many little blue leds are still lit.

The light head feels solidly constructed. The look and feel of the unit is great. Plus it just looks really good on the bike.

I would recommend this light to anyone. Ya, I know it is pricey. But if you need to see, or be seen, this is the light. On the road or on a trail this light will get the job done.
