These are the best. Highly recommended. May 27, 2009
By Robert W They do what they are supposed to do and weight next to nothing. I have put these poles through the paces and they shine. Easily take all my weight with a pack, so 270 lbs total or so, up or down hill. A couple of times I've had them wedge real bad into rocks and put some serious torque across them and they have held up great. Cork handles are wonderful, as are the lower foam grips for uphill. A couple of dings here and there and still no problems. I wouldn't say you could purposely abuse them without fear of breaking, but they are easily as tough as any aluminum pole I've ever used.

Need better locks Jun 18, 2010
By John R. Black

The poles are very lightweight and the cork handles are nice. Unfortunately the handstraps tend to self-loosen, requiring constant readjustment if you're weighting them. And worse, the flick-locks (2 on each pole) are constantly unflicking, causing the pole to collapse while you're walking.
At first I thought perhaps they were catching on clothing, causing them to unlock. But later I saw one open up on its own.
There is a screw-adjustment to tighten these locks (you always hike with a phillips screwdriver right?), but even tightening these down as much as I could did not help.
I'd rather have twist-locking poles.
Best Walking Sticks Jan 21, 2012
By Mr. Robert J. Rineer

I hike a lot and have used a number of walking sticks. The Black Diamond carbon are top of the line. They are light, strong, use flip locks, and have cork handles. You can pay less - but if you want the best, this should be your choice.
3 Days flawless performance in the Rockies Nov 04, 2011
By J. Coffman I took these on a three day hike in the Rocky Mountain National Park and they were perfectly solid and never collapsed. I was walking across ice for most of the time and put the bulk of my weight on them uphill and downhill and never had a lock come undone on me. Highly recommended.
Great, light-weight poles Jul 23, 2011
By John Hatcliff I just used these poles for 25 miles of backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park, and I was very pleased with them. They felt great in my hands, and were very light. I didn't have any problem with flip-locks on the poles. The tips got caught in cracks and boards on a foot-bridge, but the associated torquing of the poles didn't cause any damage. The poles held my weight (with a 50lb pack on) when going down some pretty steep hills. I don't have experience with other poles since these are the only ones that I have owned, but based on my initial experience, I would definitely recommend them.
