Good light for the right application Jan 04, 2009
By Craig C. Castioni This light is a reliable and inexpensive marker light. It is excellent to use for night kayaking. The lense design allows for a "flash" effect as it's viewed from different angles. As my kayak moves, the light provides excellent visibility. It is better than a strobe since a non-flashing light might be required in some localities. Using flashing lights is deemed illegal according to one source. This complies with a visibility requirement for small watercraft.

Not much more than a waterproof penlight Apr 12, 2007

I bought this to replace a C-Strobe light I used as a tail-light on my bicycle. The C-Strobe was bright, flashed bright enough to make car drivers complain, and waterproof, just not rugged enough to survive being run over by a truck when it fell off my backpack. This one was by the same manufacturer with "strobe action" and 1/3 the cost.
It doesn't flash, the "strobe action" is the way it appears to flash as you go in and out of the side ring of light. It isn't anywhere near as bright as the C-Strobe. I'm going to get a C-Strobe later this month from a local boating dealer.
