Great but beware of this issue... Sep 30, 2009
By D. Wiezalis Great trail runners. Fit well and very supportive. Goretex is great. If you develop a bulge/ soft spongy bubble under both heals this is a defect in the shoe. I'm told it has been fix but unless you get them from Vasque it is hard to tell. The outsole separates from the center of heal/cushion area. The resultant bulge causes the characteristic squeeking on wet or smooth surface floors. Vasque offers a 1 yr warrenty and can/ will remedy the issue during that period. My pair started within the first 2 weeks of wearing. Vasque makes excellant products. I've used a pair of their Sundowner GTX's for 2 decades. Like most manufactures, an occasion issue slips by on production. Hope it helps.

By Christopher Muhs I have owned several pairs of Vasque trail runners and technical climbing boots, all of which have performed extremely well. Without a doubt Vasque had has managed to pull it off again and Velocity VST GTX Trail runners are by far the best pair of trail runners I have owned. living in the damp and wet Pacific Northwest the gortex is a huge plus. These shoes are well cushioned and are suitable for running on paved roads as well as trails. These are a great investment and I am sure they will wear well as have my other pairs. You wont be disappointed.

Vasque Velocity ain't what it used to be... Mar 25, 2011
By Reverend Aaron
"neo-renaissance multinerd"
The Vasque Velocity used to be a great light-midweight hiker shoe or heavyweight trail runner, but they decided to mess up what used to be a great shoe. The two big problems are 1) delamination of the sole causing squeaking and the VST bubble; and 2) the new fit which causes the foot to slight forward into the toe box. I never had either of these problems with the old Velocity, and from the recent clearance and withdrawal of the Velocity VST it seems that even Vasque has figured out that the current model has some serious problems.
If your VSTs are squeaking, they the sole has delaminated. The first pair of Velocity VSTs I purchased developed the squeak and delam bubble in a single day. Most reviews which mention this problem have it occurring after 1-3 months.
Since the new design causes my foot to move forward, pressing my toes into the toe box, it's no good for trail running or hiking. It is a nice looking shoe, though- the one thing Vasque improved with the latest model.
Until Vasque fixes both serious problems I can't imagine using the Velocity VST for anything but casual street wear.
Not a good shoe Apr 26, 2011
By Big Poppa So I am in Afghanistan and I needed a shoe that would stand up to a daily 3.5 mile walk/run.
The terrain is rocks, everywhere rocks so a good shoe is very important. Right out of the box this shoe disappointed.
1. It is tight, I have never really wore a wide shoe but this shoe fits tight, consider a wide even if you are not accustom to it.
2. The price was not right for the quality....keep reading you will see what I mean.
3. The shoes both had a blow out of the sole within 4 weeks of wear. The soles were put on the shoe with an air pocket or something but they both came apart at the heel, ONLY 4 WEEKS!.
4. I paid $117 for a shoe that lasted less than four weeks and fit as tight as a glove. No bueno!
I will not by this brand again.
Awesome Dec 28, 2010
By Gabe Cohn This is an excellent shoe. I have owned this shoe for over a year, and just purchased my second pair. It was designed as a trail running shoe, but I wear it everyday. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so having a completely waterproof shoe is very nice. This shoe truly is waterproof, and my feet have never gotten wet while wearing this shoe. It it a very sturdy and durable shoe, you will feel like you are wearing a very supportive hiking boot.
