5Where have you been all my life?  Jan 22, 2009 By Invisigoth
Having lived in Minnesota all my life, I wish I had one of these from the very beginning. I've worn this mask in -20 F temperatures and I don't even notice the cold. It allows you to breathe while avoiding the snot buildup that is so common with an ordinary scarf. Buy this and you will have no more chapped and windburned cheeks!

The mask secures with velcro on the back of your neck. If you have long hair, you might find that it's easy to get it caught in the velcro.

It also makes you look like a ninja but I consider that a good thing.

4Comfort Mask - An Essential For Winter Sports And Activities  Jan 08, 2009 By Mark "Technology, Music and Movies"
The Seirus Innovation Comfort Masque is one of those essential accessories that it's easy to forget you need. This guy will keep you a little warmer for your winter sports. It could also be used by those who go camping, hunting or hiking in the fall and winter months.

I personally use mine most while skiing and snowboarding. Not everybody is bothered by cold temperatures while racing down a mountain, but I would guess most people are. I don't mind the cold in general, but when I'm going down a mountain at 30 miles an hour the cold can give the phrase *wind-chill* a whole new level of meaning. This mask does the trick. It wears easily and attaches with velcro in the back.

The only real criticism I have of this mask is pretty universal as compared to others I have tried over the years. It seems to slide down or out of position a lot so I find myself readjusting it. It's also not the most comfortable mask I've ever had and it does make it harder to breath. But for the price, those qualms are relatively minor. Like I said, even with those things in mind it's still a great product. This is one of those things that really comes in handy for winter.

Recently I decided to give this a try while shovelling out from a storm. It's nice to stay just a little bit warmer when there is sleet and freezing rain blowing sideways when you are trying to clean out your driveway. It's not something I would wear all the time for that use because I like to be able to breath a little easier. This does cover the mouth a little bit more than I would like. But for really cold days or wet conditions it will definitely do in a pinch.

In terms of sizing it does tend to run a little small. I like to wear mine snug but not tight, but suffice it to say most men will need the large size. The medium size is really for smaller than average men, women or teenagers. I didn't mind making that mistake because it's nice to have an extra on hand for the event I take a ski trip with some newbies at some point this season.

These can be washed in a machine, but I would definitely not put them in a dryer. I haven't tried it with this one but I did end the life of a previous mask that way. The safest bet is to hand wash and hang to air-dry.

Overall good product for the price. If you don't have one, get one now so you have it on hand for when you need it.

Enjoy.

5Good product - Purchased the wrong size  Mar 02, 2011 By Hellabad
I purchased this product to use while biking from work where the temperature ranges from 30-40 degrees. It keeps my face warm and its easy to breath from, my only problem was I purchased the wrong size (M). To give an idea I measured around my face from under my nose to the hairline at the back of my neck it measured 20 inches or 51 cm and a Medium barely fit me. It's a little difficult to turn my head but its not a big deal. I recommend if your head is around my size I would suggest getting a Large.

4warm, but not comfortable for everyone, durability issues  Mar 18, 2011 By Brownie
I'm giving this 4 stars because it's the only face mask that my husband likes and is comfortable with. The shaped and cut-out form of this mask is what my husband really likes about it - - - the nose part protrudes so your nose doesn't feel smashed, and there are lots of tiny air holes cut into the mouth area. The mouth/chin area is also sewn in a curved shape which allows the mask to tuck under your chin without having to be pulled uncomfortably tight.

* * Suggestion : unless it's for a child, order an x-large. The velcro allows you to tighten it easily if necessary.

I'm not giving it 5 stars for two reasons :

1) Although the neoprene material is backed with a low pile fleece/flannel I personally prefer a softer fleece fabric against my face.
2) This is the 4th mask we've purchased because the mask tears at the nose and mouth areas.

The mouth perforations and seams around the nose always tend to rip and tear after a couple seasons of use.

I will admit that hubby isn't the most gentle of creatures when putting on/taking off the mask, but I can't put all the blame on him.

He uses this mask while snowboarding - - - usually while it's snowing. He will typically secure it initially with the velcro tabs at the back, then just pull it up/down by grasping the nose/mouth sections. He is handling this mask while wearing gloves, and often the mask itself is frozen/crusted over with snow/ice. Given these conditions, I guess it's understandable that the mask would tear in these perforated areas, so my one star deduction is more to just give notice that this will probably happen, rather than criticize the product.

If you're just planning on using this mask while doing outdoor winter chores, then you probably won't have these durability issues. As far as warmth, comfort and satisfaction go, hubby keeps wanting me to buy the exact same replacement.

5Great for those cold winters  Feb 21, 2011
I've owned a few of these half-masks, and this one wins hands down. With my previous masks, after a while, the cloth started peeling away from the neoprene. With this one that's not an issue. The inside is lined with fleece, which is a nice touch, because other masks tended to get kind of abraisive after a while. The only thing worth noting here is the sizing. I think I bought a medium and I should've gone larger. I'm 5'11, 175, and this mask is a bit too tight, even on the loosest setting
